UKIP Stretford & Urmston

Kalvin Chapman welcomes you to

UKIP Stretford & Urmston

Hello and welcome to the new Stretford & Urmston section of my website.

I joined UKIP and immediately joined the UKIP Trafford Branch.  I then stood in the May 215 General Election.,  In fact, this website was set up just for that election.  But, we had a lot of traffic to the site, so we kept it up.  The Main-stream media hates everything UKIP and warps how news items are drafted.  This is our small way of trying to correct the MSM perceptions of UKIP and the people within UKIP.

In 2016 I started working with the Manchester UKIP branch.  I live in central Manchester, so it seemed more appropriate for me to work with them, and to support local candidates in Stretford & Urmston who wish to stand.  It is a long time to the next planned General Election in 2020.  There may be a General Election called before that.  If you were Teresa May and you saw how UKIP and Labour were falling to pieces over their leadership elections - wouldn't you really push for a new election? If there was a vote tomorrow, Conservatives would have a massive majority, Labour would be crippled and UKIP probably would not get any further than we did in 2015. We need to fix this.  Only those inside the party and who support the party can fix this - and we intend to.

I have chosen to remain a part of Stretford & Urmston for three principal reasons.  (1) Mike Bayley-Sanderson has managed to create a branch that really cares and which is free of drama and hatred.  I absolutely love branch meetings.  I love the way that Mike has managed to make sure that the group works closely together with no back-stabbing and no factions.  (2) I found out I have a tumour in my head (eye, brain & sinus) in August 2016.  The UKIP Stretford & Urmston branch immediately rallied around me.  I have never felt so loved.  I have genuine friends in the branch, and they have made sure that I remember that when my health makes me forget things.  I could never forget such good friends.  Andrew Beaumont and Anita Rabar, together with Pauline, Mike and Val (Mike's wife) have just been wonderful people. (3) we did so well in May 2015.  I really want to be supportive of the local elections in the coming years and I want to see a local UKIP Candidate come second in the 2020 General Election.  I will 100% support them - they are a fantastic group of people, and they support me and I support them.

The 2016 EU Referendum was such good fun.  UKIP Stretford & Urmston really tried valiantly to get the word out.  Trafford voted

The total number of ballot papers counted was: 125,400

The number of votes cast in favour of REMAIN A MEMBER OF THE EUROPEAN UNION was  72,293

The number of votes cast in favour of LEAVE THE EUROPEAN UNION was: 53,018

So, Trafford and Manchester voted to remain.  UKIP North West understands this.  The UK as a whole voted to leave, and leave we must.  But, taking things forward, UKIP Stretford & Urmston must understand the results of the vote in June 2016.

In 2017 there may be a referendum to elect a Mayor in Trafford.  That will be very interesting, as it will likely be a Conservative that wins.  You can download the Trafford Council Notice on this HERE.  UKIP Stretford & Urmston will be considering this going forward.

So, to conclude: I have had such a good time with UKIP Stretford & Urmston since I joined them in January 2015.  I will continue to support the branch and its members.  I am very good friends with the members, and I will continue to support Mike Bayley-Sanderson's chairmanship, because he has really done a fantastic job in the role.  I hope to see more of this over the next four years.  I really would love to see Mike elected to the council or (even better) elected as an MP.
